It’s a New York City shake up! Aviva Drescher has been fired from The Real Housewives of New York City after two seasons on the show. The 45 year old author, amputee, and married mom of four will be best remembered for her leg-throwing incident at Manhattan restaurant Le Cirque in the season six finale of RHONY, which aired in July. That dramatic incident occurred when Aviva’s six other cast mates accused her of faking illness and lying repeatedly in order to get out of going on several different cast trips. What went down that day will forever be remembered. “The only thing fake about me,” Drescher hissed as she yanked off her prosthetic leg, “is this!” After slamming the prosthesis on the table, Drescher then threw it across the room as partygoers gasped and laughed in shock. Aviva revealed in an interview the day after the episode aired that she thought the whole situation was actually very funny. Drescher said: “I think me getting angry and throwing my leg on the table was really funny and crazy. I get a hoot out of it. But of course, I was definitely brought to the end of my rope, or the end of my leg so to speak.” So, what’s going to happen with the show now? “Bravo is casting the show around (cast members) Heather Thomson and Kristen Taekman and Carole Radziwill,” a source revealed about the reason behind the cast shakeup. Very interesting to see that Bravo wants to take the show in a different direction.
In other Real Housewives of New York City news, it looks like Ramona Singer has been demoted from a main role on the show to simply a recurring role. Sources close to the show say that the ratings began to plummet when Ramona was the one carrying the show. Ramona Singer is the longest running original cast member on the show, and she has been on the show since it’s 2008 premiere. Her six figure paycheck is likely another reason why she has been demoted to a smaller role. Some reports say that Ramona is earning close to $600,000 per season on the show. Ramona had an admittedly rough year on the show last season. Singer, who recently announced the dissolution of her 22-year marriage, seemed fed up with the scrutiny that came with starring on the show during the reunion special, refusing to answer questions about her love life and becoming extremely combative with host Andy Cohen. She also had issues throughout the season with new cast member Taekman, and even busted open her lip at one point after throwing a glass in her face on a canoe trip.
