Infertility Caused by Unexplained Infertility Problems

Infertility Caused by Unexplained Infertility Problems

Fertility tests: normal

So you have decided that it is time to have a baby. You are trying to conceive but with no results whatsoever. Weeks meld into months and months into a year and yet, you are not pregnant. You do the sensible thing and decide that you should take fertility tests. You and your partner go to the fertility clinic and take all the required tests. As you wait for the results you assure each other that everything will be all right and whatever the problem may be, you will find a solution for it. You know that once you find what the problem is, you can either choose treatments or home remedies to get rid of it and to conceive a baby. The test results finally arrive and you brace yourself. You look through the report and you are taken aback by the result: normal. Everything is completely fine with you and your partner. Why can’t you get pregnant then?! Uncertain things

Here comes the concept of unexplained infertility. About twenty percent of the infertility problems are unexplained. This means that 20% of the times, couples don’t even know why they can’t get pregnant. This can make things worse. It is bad enough to know that something is wrong but it is worse to not know what is wrong. How will you rectify it without even knowing what it is? This can make things very uncertain. You are literally in no man’s land, wondering what to do next. Should you take the tests again? Should you just keep trying? Should you try to see another doctor? Should you just pick up one treatment and go with it? What should you do? You might want to see other doctors who you think are better and can determine the problem using advanced technology. You visit a new doctor and you get the same result. You go ahead and choose another doctor but the result remains the same. Eventually you will give up, with a lot of money and time down the drain.

An enigma

So what should you do? Lose all hope and give up on the hopes of being parents all together? No. That is definitely NOT what you should do. Maybe your infertility is not altogether an enigma. It may be that the reason has not been unearthed by science as of yet or that enough research hasn’t been carried out to come up with an explanation. There also may not be the right testing devices to find out the problem. Thus, the right tools to determine the cause don’t exist presently.

Age matters

If you are above the age of 35 years, you are more likely to have unexplained infertility problems. With age, fertility tends to decrease especially in women. The number of good eggs will come down and thus, getting pregnant will be difficult. Most doctors don’t explain this to the patients and simply say that the infertility can’t be explained. Hence, if you want to get pregnant, you should make sure you try in your 20’s and early 30’s.

Don’t lose hope

So, what should you do? You can either take infertility medicines on the advice of the doctor or you could go for treatments such as in vitro fertilization and intrauterine insemination. If nothing works for you, you can always adopt and give a child shelter, love, and care.

If yours is unexplained infertility, it’d be ideal to sit down with the doctor and clear all your doubts and questions. At the same time, discuss with your partner and decide what you should do. Don’t lose hope. There is always a way.
