Why yoga helps you conceive

Yoga has been proven to help increase fertility for a simple reason that it combats stress and helps you relax. Through yoga you can bring your whole body and mind to peace. Many people who have been unable to conceive face the problem of stress. They simply can’t relax and that can affect their fertility adversely. This is common in those who have been trying for a very long time and sex is no more than a chore that you ‘have’ to do in order to conceive. The fun is gone because of the increasing anxiety and frustration, and with each passing day the frustration simply builds up. In this case, you should turn to yoga to calm you down not just mentally but also physically so that the enjoyment in the process is back and your chances of getting pregnant increase. Also, stress has a major effect on your hormones, which is another reason why you may be facing difficulty with getting pregnant. Alleviate your stress levels so that hormones in your body are balanced.

How to increase fertility

When you research yoga poses, you will find a number of yoga poses that can increase your fertility. Which ones you choose to perform depends on your preferences and comfort levels. Ideally, you should practice these poses three times in a week, minimum. There is no overdoing these poses because with yoga, the more the better. However, you should be careful not to stress yourself too much. Listed here are a few poses that you could start with.

Lotus Pose

This pose is actually very simple. All you need to do is sit cross-legged and ensure that your back is straight. Rest your hands, palms up, on your knees. You can also fold your fingers such that the forefingers touch your thumbs and form a circle. It all depends on your convenience. If, for some reason, you are not able to keep your back straight, use a blanket to your aid. Roll it to make it two inches thick and rest your back to it. You will be able to sit straight thus. Now close your eyes and let your jaws and shoulders relax. Always make sure you keep your back straight. Watch your breath as you inhale and exhale. Respire slowly and watch each breath. Sit still for as long as you can. Then open your eyes slowly and take a deep breath. This pose is excellent because it not just alleviates stress but it also channels energy to your pelvic region along with balancing your hormones.

Butterfly pose

In this pose, your feet are together. You should pull them closer to your body as much as you can. Make sure your back is straight at all times. Close your eyes and then visualize your pelvic area. Concentrate on your internal organs and focus on the blood circulating in this area. Relax your muscles and stay calm.

Child’s pose

This pose will help you refresh your body. It will also help you relax and calm down. Your hands and your knees should be on the floor for this pose. Stretch your arms and hands so that you lean forward and they are over your head. Loosen the muscles on your hind side by wiggling your buttocks. You can rest your forehead on the ground too. This may be uncomfortable for some but it is worth trying.

These poses are from the Hatha Yoga. You can also choose Kripalu yogic tradition if you want to increase your fertility but remember that Ashtanga Yoga and Bikram Yoga will not help you for fertility.
